Northwest Trek Park and Nature Preserve

We've been talking about taking James to Northwest Trek since we moved to Bonney Lake.
Many of our friends have visited and had great things to say.

James wasn't sure how he felt about this giant moose at the entrance.

Here's a glimpse of a few of the furry friends we met on our trip:

Golden Eagles

The Snowy Owl

The Barn Owl

Fisher

We got to watch one of the trainers doing flight training with the Red Tail Hawk.
This was so cool!

Getting ready for the tram ride...

Elk herd in the distance.

 Beautiful views of Horseshoe Lake.

Our friendly greeter at the tram- one very large caribou!

We got to see all four moose on our tram tour.
We're told this is rare- one some days none come out at all!

I spy two turtles on a log!

A small doe.

Big Horn Sheep- later we got to see them sparring.

The "Douglasaurus" tree. Looks like a dinosaur, doesn't it??

A VERY close encounter with a large buffalo.

You could almost reach out and touch the animals, it was unbelievable.
James loved every minute at the park, he was so intrigued by each of the animals we saw. It's so fun to watch him experience the wildlife!

All the excitement and James needed a snooze!

 The Billy Goat.

More great views at Hellyer Lookout.

Rare white swans between the trees.

Our caribou friend was there to greet us upon our return as well.

We checked out a few more animals, including the gray wolf (below) and it was time for lunch.

We were TOTALLY impressed, this park far exceeded my expectations!

We'll be back soon- there's still so much we didn't get to on this visit.
They have a great center with activities and exhibits for kids,
as well as miles of trails for hiking.
I look forward to checking out the Sweetwater Springs as well as the bear viewing decks!

The tram ride offers something new to see with every visit.
So we decided to get a membership, and it comes with unlimited visits to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium as well!
Both venues host fun events all year long- find us here in a few months, bundled up in winter gear!

Guests are free as part of our deal, so come join us at these awesome places!
