Kahana Bay

On our last day, we took a quick stroll down at Waikiki to take in the sights.

It was SO hot. We didn't make it far.

It would have been fun to check out the Hilton Hawaiian Village and see the Duke Kahanamoku statue, but there's something to look forward to on the next visit!

The beach was definitely in order after our hot walk.

Matt and I fell in love with Kahana Bay last time we vacationed here, so we decided to take the family.

This beach was a hit with the kids- calm, shallow surf allowed for unrestricted swim time!

So funny- James preferred to play with the sand and buckets on the beach blanket.

Searching for coconuts...

... like father, like son I suppose.

Best buds- James is majorly interested in doing whatever Matt is doing these days!

Hmm.... and I wondered where James got his fascination with sticks.

The best part about this beach- the crabs!

My family lovingly calls Kahana Bay the "crab beach."

This is because for years we would come here on our family vacations and my brother and I would spend hours chasing crabs. No joke- we would collect dozens. There is definitely strategy involved. When the tide is out, you can see hundreds of holes in the sand up and down the beach. If you wait long enough, the crabs sneak out to head for the water.

Sweet memories.

James was not afraid of the crabs at all.
He would grab them and throw them in the ocean.
I can't wait to bring him here when he is older and watch him chase crabs!

 Love this beach!

The vacation was wonderful, it was so special to watch James.

A big thank you to Grandma and Grandpa B for a fantastic and memorable time!
