Matt and I enjoyed a weekend retreat to the beautiful Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop with our good friends Kipp and Sarah.

It was mid October and the fall scenes were breathtaking.
We love eastern Washington- 300 days of sun!
This would be a great place to bring the kids in the summer, too. The lodge had a great pool area and lots of activities.
On our first day we rented mountain bikes and went for a 12 mile off road adventure. What Sarah and I expected to be a leisurely tour ended up being narrow downhill trails and switchbacks! But it was so much fun. Kipp and Matt had a blast too, biking through rivers and down the trails. We went all the way around the lake and each of us only fell once (ha!). Luckily we did NOT fall down the edge of the (narrow) trail into the lake!
I see boating, fishing and sand castles here with the kids!

On day 2 we took a horse ride to an old homestead where we enjoyed an authentic cowboy barbecue dinner. It was the first day of hunting which made the horse ride even more interesting! The horses would gallop when they heard a gunshot. Never a dull moment!
We enjoyed the ride home and made multiple stops at the fruit stands. It was the perfect weekend with each other and with close friends!!
